There is fur, and then there is J Mendel. The family owned fur house has continued the tradition of having the most stunning pieces of fur ever, peppered with a few of their gorgeous evening gowns. I didn't know it till very recently, but the beautiful line of ready-to-wear happened quite by accident. Apparently, the label, which is headquartered in New York with a flagship store on Madison Avenue, wanted to detract PETA protesters from staking out the store in the mid-nineties, so created a bunch of sheath dresses to display in the window at night. And that's how they ventured into clothing! What an interesting story, no?
