LOVING the Suneet Varma for Judith Leiber collection!

While it's great to see the likes of Prabal Gurung achieve international fame with Michelle Obama wearing his clothes, it's really about time my favourite designer closer to home achieve the same kind of success and fame. Suneet Varma is a master of colour and texture, and his saris and other desi-wear are to die for! He has recently partnered with Judith Leiber and designed his own line of "Suneet Varma for Judith Leiber" collection, and the results are stunning. As you can see, the sultry J-Lo and the always fashionable Queen of Sex and the City also agree with me, and carried his creations at the Met Ball in New York and New York City Ballet Gala respectively.
This really is HUGE as no other Indian designer has ever had a formal collaboration with an international fashion house, and Judith Leiber is a name synonomous with luxury, elegance, style and sophistication- you really cannot get better than this! The collaboration was announced by Suzy Menkes no less, who is the Editor of the International Herald Tribune, and one of the most powerful women in fashion. Here are the close ups of the Bidri, the Starbust and the Pietra Dura bags:

His bags were even carried to the Golden Globes and Mariah Carey was another famous starlet who carried one of his creations to the Oscars!

I've been wanting to feature Suneet on my blog for a while now, and he's been so sweet to readily agree to help with that. However, while I'm working on that, I just HAD to post these pics up to give you a taste of what was coming. He really is as gorgeous as his creations, and I'm super excited to interview him. Stay tuned!!!

Hey Eka,

The dress IS Zuhair Murad, but the bag is by Suneet for JL.
SJP is wearing an Elie Saab dress and L'Wren Scott jacket, and decided to pair it with his bag too :)
